Holcim Wins Safety Award For SafeStart |
The innovative human error prevention program, SafeStart has been recognised with a safety award by Cement Concrete & Aggregate Australia. SafeStart won the Best Overall Health & Safety Innovation Award by enabling Holcim Brisbane and Gold Coast operations to reduce their Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TFIFR) by 33%. Safestart was introduced only in the second half of the year. Next year's comparison figures are expected to be even more dramatic. Significantly, this reduction also includes injuries suffered by those employees that were not able to take part in the SafeStart programme. SafeStart is a new human error prevention program that has achieved impressive results in its implementation in Australia and New Zealand. Cristian Sylvestre, the Managing Director of SafeTrain (distributors of SafeStart) stated: "We are thrilled to receive this award. The results show that human error prevention is a very active part of improving safety culture. Individuals make mistakes and forget things. If we want to get to zero harm, human error prevention is an important part of the safety puzzle that we need to address."
