Safety Culture Change  THROUGH  Human Error Prevention

The SafeStart Program

Program Overview

SafeStart has been designed to ensure that the learning experience continues for sufficient time to maximise sustainability.

SafeStart has sufficient training materials to last four years. Your company can do as much or as little as you need.

SafeStart is not just about providing knowledge, it is about enrolling people to make changes to the way they think about what they do and how they do it from a safety perspective.  The acquisition of new skills and the changing of existing habits will take a little time and effort to master. Support and reinforcement from managers, supervisors and colleagues all help the process.

Additional training that has helped workplaces implement SafeStart successfully include:-

Conduct Leadership Support Sessions (8 hours).

These are sessions conducted with supervisors and above in groups of 20 during the first week of presentations (conducted by SafeTrain).  This session allows supervisors and above to understand how important their support is and what they can do to show it in a visible way.

Conduct Steering Committee Training (8 hours)

The implementation of SafeStart in a workplace is a four year project that needs to be managed.  This training allows the nominated or elected members involved in the project to have the required skills to manage the project competently.

SafeStart is a Human Error Prevention Program that has achieved a consistent
60-90% reduction in workplace incidents within 6-12 months of its implementation.

Almost 2 million people have been trained in SafeStart at more than 2000 organisations (7000 sites) in over 40 countries.
